Casa Vale da Lama is a serene eco-resort situated in the Algarve region of Portugal, offering guests an immersive experience in sustainable living, organic farming, and eco-friendly hospitality.
My role in this project was to create a cohesive visual identity that harmonizes with the resort's existing logo and aligns with its values of sustainability and connection to nature.

Design Objectives
The primary goal was to develop a brand identity that visually reflects the eco-conscious ethos of Casa Vale da Lama, while also providing a calming and inviting experience for potential guests. I focused on:
Natural Colors & Textures
Inspired by the surrounding landscapes—earthy greens, soft browns, and muted yellows—each color choice was intended to evoke a feeling of harmony with the environment. Organic textures and gradients were incorporated throughout the branding to mirror the natural surroundings of the resort.

Custom Illustrations
Hand-drawn illustrations were a key element of the design, adding a personal and artisanal touch to the brand. These visuals depict local flora, landscapes, and symbols of sustainability, reinforcing Casa Vale da Lama’s deep connection to the land.

While working with an existing logo, I developed a comprehensive brand system that extended beyond it. This included typography pairings, a color palette inspired by natural elements, and textures that could be applied across various touchpoints, from print materials to digital platforms.

I created a series of reusable social media templates for Instagram and Facebook that maintain a cohesive look, whether showcasing the resort's organic meals, eco-friendly practices, or tranquil accommodations. The templates use a mix of photography and custom illustrations, making them both dynamic and on-brand.

Integrating the Pre-Existing Logo
One challenge was ensuring that the pre-existing logo, which I didn’t design, blended seamlessly with the new brand elements. By surrounding it with natural textures, organic shapes, and an earthy color palette, I created a cohesive visual identity that felt true to the resort's values and aesthetic.

Another challenge was ensuring consistency across a variety of platforms, from digital (social media and the website) to physical materials used at the resort. Careful attention was given to maintaining the same tone, imagery, and color usage across all mediums, providing a unified brand experience.

Final Thoughts
Casa Vale da Lama’s new visual identity is a reflection of the resort’s core values: sustainability, tranquility, and a deep connection to the natural world. By using soft, nature-inspired colors, custom illustrations, and a clean, user-friendly website, the brand conveys an atmosphere of peaceful escape while staying rooted in eco-conscious principles. This project allowed me to blend artistry with purpose, creating a brand that not only appeals to eco-tourists but also aligns with the resort’s mission to nurture both people and the planet.
